Obituary

MADISON - Harvey Terre, age 91, passed away quietly and peacefully at home early in the morning of December 20, 2024. Born in Stekene, Belgium on May 28, 1933, to Florent and Jeanne Terre, Harvey was the fourth of five children. He was preceded in death by his brother, Roger; and sisters, Mary Louise, Dorothy and Shirley.

Harvey was a student at St. Bernard’s Catholic School and graduated from Madison East High School in 1953. After serving in the U.S. Army driving tanks in West Germany, Harvey returned to Madison to work and live with his family and many lifelong friends.

In early 1958, he met the love of his life, future R.N., Donna Blank, on a blind date at the Anchor Inn. United in marriage on January 22, 1959, Harvey and Donna bought a home in Madison where they lived for the next 55 years, raising two very proud sons, David and John. Harv became an iron worker and proud member of Iron Workers Local No. 383, retiring in 1995. A lifelong hunter and fisherman, Harv also was a dedicated motorcycle rider, archer and in his retirement, an avid trapshooter and duck hunter. He will be remembered fondly by good friends and his adopted sons and brothers at Stoughton Conservation Club, Sauk Prairie Trap and Skeet, and North Bristol Sportsman’s Club.

Harvey is survived by his wife of 66 years, Donna; sons, David (Kathy) Terre of Austin, Texas and John (Vickie) Terre of Madison, Wis.; five grandchildren, Cory (Addie) Terre, Frankie (Rob) Fox, Tracy (Pete) Zachow, Shawn (Danette) Oller and Chris (Mallory) Oller; 10 great-grandchildren, Wesley, Eli, Lexi, Joey, Mae, Tori, Hunter, Logan, Caleb and Braden; and two great-great-grandchildren, Aspen and Leighton. Harvey was like a father to me, and best friend. He would come to my archery league nights and sit and watch me while we would bs about the day’s events. He got me into trap shooting, and we went everywhere there was a shoot. We couldn’t wait for the weekend to go to shoot. I will miss you greatly my friend, Friday breakfast’s at the Eagle in was our staple every week. Rest in peace dad!
