Timothy M. Chamberlain

FITCHBURG-Timothy M. "Tim" Chamberlain, age 71, of Fitchburg, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2019. He was born on Jan. 23, 1947, in Madison, the son of Frederick and Carroll (Tidd) Chamberlain. Tim graduated from Madison East High School in 1965, and shortly thereafter began dating the love of his life, Susan “Sue” Thompson. Tim and Sue married on June 10, 1972 in Olbrich Gardens and had one daughter, Lindsey Rae. He worked in Quality Control for a number of local companies, including Oscar Mayer, Inc. and retired in 2000. Tim was the life of the party, quick with a joke and an infectious laugh. His love of humor was only slightly smaller than his generous heart and nature. He gave silently and frequently and enjoyed helping others in need almost as much as he loved spoiling “his girls.” His love was expansive when he became a Grandpa twice to two girls. Besides his family, Tim enjoyed spending time with Sue appreciating the arts, cooking and traveling; and enjoyed time reading, watching sports and discussing history and literature including with local community book clubs. Tim is survived by wife, Susan; daughter, Lindsey (Adam) King; granddaughters, Aibhlinn and Meara; and mother-in-law, Doris Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carroll and Fritz. A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON FITCHBURG FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 2950 Chapel Valley Rd, Fitchburg, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 2, 2019, with the Rev. Sheryl Erickson presiding. Visitation will be at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
