Obituary

CRANDON- On Thursday, Jan. 17, 2019, Judy Jesse passed away peacefully, surrounded by her children, following complications from a stroke. She was born on Nov. 14, 1940, in Cudahy, Wisconsin to Ralph and Mona (Ison) Hanson. Judy grew up in Cudahy and spent her summers in Crandon and at Ada Lake. She graduated from Cudahy High School in 1959 and began working at Allen-Bradley. On Feb. 24, 1962, she married Roy Jesse, of Argonne, at St. Mark’s Church in Cudahy. Roy and Judy were married for 42 years until his passing in 2004. They raised their three children in Cudahy and were active in the Booster Club and Cudahy Swim Club. A lifelong sports fan, Judy enjoyed Friday nights watching Cudahy football and basketball games, and cheering on the Badgers, Packers, Brewers, and Bucks, as well. She worked in electronic assembly until she retired from Phillips Electronics and she and Roy moved to Crandon. Always feisty and independent, Judy enjoyed traveling and took trips to Jamaica, Oregon, Florida, California, and Nevada, among other places. She loved feeding the birds and watching the parade of wildlife through her yard. Judy enjoyed going to the casino where she was lucky more often than not. Most of all, she loved being at Ada Lake. Whether visiting with family or fishing, she loved any time spent at the lake. She was an outstanding fisherwoman, just like her mother and sisters. Judy was a loving wife to Roy and a devoted mom to Sue (Tom) Morgan, Glen (Amy), and Gary (Tamar Hurwitz). She was an adoring grandma to Katie, Erin, and Michael Deuberry and Chloe, Walden, and Rory Jesse, as well as great-grandma to Jeremiah Appleton. She was a protective big sister to Paula (Joe) Crapitto and Linda Vargo and sister-in-law to Vernon and John (Charlotte) Jesse, Ginger (Steve) Alexander, Janet (Wayne) Hintz, and Glenn Palmer. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends, as well as her devoted puppy, Jack. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Roy; parents. Ralph and Mona Hanson; brothers-in-law, Andy Vargo and Roger Diedrich; and sisters-in-law, Jean Jesse, Barbara Diedrich, Karen Palmer, and Jill Kaye. A celebration of Judith’s life is planned for the spring. Special thanks to Mom’s good friends, Paula and Todd Kalata and Tonya and Tinya Walerko for everything. Children are the anchors that hold a mother to life. You were our anchor, Mom. We miss you terribly, but are proud to carry you in our hearts and our memories forever.
