When I worked at JHP, Steve’s office was adjacent to mine. Throughout the day we shared many laughs together. I recall his great sense of humor and quick wit, much quicker than mine and plenty more entertaining. I’m reminded of his rather unusual work habits, probably developed from his days working on a daily paper. While I would research a story and write it, Steve would do all his research and then write his stories all at once, maybe two days before they were due. Never knew how he did it, but the process certainly worked for him and his magazine. I lost touch with Steve when I left JHP around 1991, although I did run across him and few times afterwards at the publishing company. He aged like fine wine, never losing his zest for life and uncanny ability to make one laugh.

I tried to never miss a column he wrote. A kind spirited man with a great view of life.

Steve was a quite and gentle soul. Never said a bad word about anyone. My memory: We were in Monroe having lunch and I spilled a whole glass of red wine unto Steve's lap. He never got upset or said anything other then, maybe we should stop at Goodwill and get me another pair of pants and laughed. He will be truly missed.

I was sad to recently read the obituary of Stephen Ehle. Although I didn't know him well, the few times that I interacted with him, it was always informative and enjoyable. He was very intelligent and kind. I got to become acquainted with him through my friendship his brother John, who worked with me in a couple of Wisconsin school districts. I offer my sincere condolences to his family and friends. May he rest in peace. Another quality human being gone too soon. My thoughts and prayers are with/for his family during this difficult time.
