MADISON, Wis/CICERO, Ill.-Maxine Roberta Schloss, age, 77, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2019. Maxine “Squirt” “Bobbie” “Boobsie” Schloss was born in Cicero, Ill. on Aug. 1, 1941, and was doted on by her mother, father, big brother, Spanky, and many aunts and uncles. She weighed only three pounds, 12.5 ounces when she was born but was a spunky, creative, strong-willed little “Squirt” from the minute she entered this world. As a kid, she loved to dance and took ballet and tap classes. She could also be found having fun with her many cousins who lived in the neighborhood. As an adult, Bobbie was unlucky in love but was blessed with seven children. She made sure to provide them with a cozy home, warm meals, and clean clothes, often on her own and on a very low budget.
Bobbie was a hard worker throughout her whole life and spent time as a bartender, a cook in a resort and other restaurants, and dabbled in marketing. Her favorite occupation besides being a mother, was selling real estate in California and Chicago and she was extremely good at it. She had a magnetic personality and would light up a room when she entered it.
“Boobsie” had a wonderful sense of humor and tirelessly played practical jokes on the people she loved on April Fool's Day. Her children remember how she always did a lot with a little and made Christmas magical for her kids no matter how low the funds were, which was often the case. Her hobbies included painting, scrapbooking, and spending time with her children, grandchildren, and close friends Diane, Carol, and Masami. She was an AMAZING grandmother and spent hours doing crafts, artwork, and making jewelry with her grandchildren. She loved and supported her children fiercely and was very loved in return. Her advice, friendly voice, quick laugh, willingness to listen, and warm smile along with many other things, will be sorely missed.
Maxine is survived by one brother, Ronald Schloss (Rosalie) of Pennsylvania; six children, George Beltz of Missouri, Suzette Smrz of Iowa, Gary Richardson (Stacy) of Iowa, Brandy Doyle of Iowa, Melanie Buchanan (Chad) of Indiana, and Brooke Richardson (Aeriond) of Wisconsin; 16 grandchildren, Melanie Costello, Rhonda Seward (Rodney), Casey Fuller (Stephany), Ashley Beltz, Natashia Skelding (Tim), Lee Jay Lynn, Abigail Richardson, Olivia Richardson, Logan Richardson, Cody Hale (Shianna), Micki Kay Doyle, Marshall Cooney, Michael Martin, Treyson Buchanan, Addilane Buchanan, and Ace Buchanan; and 12 great-grandchildren, Brandyne Olin, Rosie Seward, Addison Fuller, Ramona Fuller, Thomas Beltz, Joshua Beltz, Arianna Skelding, Skylar Skelding, Xander Lynn, Aria Hale, Liam Hale and Harper Hale. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents Moxie “Max” Schloss and Aurelia Schloss; and her oldest daughter, Dawn Nelson (Terry) of Missouri.
A memorial gathering celebrating Maxine’s life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, from noon until 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 13, 2019. I will be ever thankful for my opportunity to meet this wonderful dynamic woman who faced severe health problems with grace and humor and courage . I spent a lot of time with Maxine the last two years . I was hired to help with chores and do some activities. We ended up tight friends . Maxine was curious about every person , wanted to know what people were about . We spent many hours at her table ( the power center of her daily life ) talking about everything from family , politics , old times and new times, religion, food , life and death . She had many plans, never gave up hopefor the future. Her dream was to walk her daughter Brooke down the aisle for her wedding .We had so many laughs together. My most dreaded words were when she said “ I have an idea !” I always told her I knew those words would always mean trouble for me ! Maxine had many treasures , family pictures, her pictures of her beloved dogs , wonderful old ornaments from her mother, and the “play room “ full of her artistic endeavors. I cherish my time I spent with her . Our last day together was spent in the morning , with coffee and Jocko ( chihuahua) care. Then I returned to make sure her Christmas things were put away before I left for vacation, then yoga. We planned to put out the valentines things when I returned. I have to believe it was just her time to take flight from the earth . She firmly believed there was something waiting for her on the other side .

Maxine (Bobbie) struck me as a courageous, open-minded, and fun-loving person each time I see her during my 3.5 years of taking care of her house and doing yoga together. When I told her that I was in yoga teacher training program, she said she would want me to lead and teach. Her physical strength was limited, but that was her idea. And she was a good student; she took my instructions very seriously and worked so hard. I think she worked hard to improve her health, but also she did for me to encourage me. She had that sweetness and kindness.
While I had difficult y in marriage, she listened to me, asked me how things were going each time she saw me, and invited me for the last Thanksgiving. I am thankful for that, and II had good and comforting time with her and her daughter Brooke. She was always open to me not matter what condition I was.
I will miss her so much in this world, but I am sure she is running free and dancing around in her new place now.
