I was Elaine's replacement when she retired in 2013. She was patient when training me and I knew that her shoes would be difficult to fill. Elaine was a no-nonsense person and you never wondered where you stood as she was an honest woman who praised when warranted and counseled when something was wrong. I knew that she would approach retirement with gusto, and it sounds as if she did just that. Although I only knew her professionally, I know that she will be sorely missed by those close to her. She touched many lives.
