Sydney Luksich
February 10, 1995 - January 01, 2019
Obituary
STOUGHTON/MADISON-Sydney Devon Luksich, age 23, was born on Feb. 10, 1995, in Madison. She attended Stoughton High School, was on the high honor roll every year and was a cheerleader for the football team. Sydney also loved to play the viola, so much that she was offered first chair in the Stoughton High School Orchestra but chose to use that time to study for college.
After graduating from high school with a 4.0 GPA, she attended college at the University of Iowa. Sydney maintained a 4.0 GPA and received a full ride to be either a neurologist or cosmetic surgeon but chose to transfer to the UW-Madison. While there, she made the Dean’s List and was set to graduate in May 2019, again with a 4.0 GPA. Sydney planned to further her education in law school.
She loved dancing and travel, having recently visited San Diego, Colorado and Las Vegas. Sydney liked traveling so much, she started saving up to visit other places.
When she wasn’t traveling or working out, you could find Syd hanging out with family. She would load up her car with laundry, her down comforter and put in some serious “auntie quality time” with her niece, nephews, her dog, Bohdy, and cat, Tinkers.
Those closest to Syd knew her life was working out, eating healthy and being as close to natural as she possibly could. She stayed in gym attire regardless of her many promises that she would start wearing regular people’s clothes! Syd’s latest outfit included “Jeggings” and even though to her family were still workout clothes, she disagreed, insisting they counted as jeans.
She was an avid member of the youth group at Lakeview Church in Stoughton where they would make goodie bags for underdeveloped countries all over the world. So open was her heart to the philosophy of caring and healing that any person or poor creature she came across in need, somehow found themselves under her care.
Sydney had an infectious smile and a signature laugh that if she laughed hard enough, would produce a hilarious snort! She had the greatest sense of humor, was always willing to give advice and loved being that helping hand when needed.
Even with all these great things, Sydney struggled daily with depression, which she tragically succumbed to on Jan. 1, 2019. With all the joy and beauty she had within her, with all the beauty in life she had waiting for her to both experience and share, Sydney left us all; telling her family that this life was just too much for her to bear in this body any longer. In truth, Sydney was before her time. It is this world that was not ready for her.
Sydney is survived by her mother Jeanine; four sisters, Jauna, Gabrielle, Brianne and Alexus; two brothers, Sam and John; niece, Patience; nephews, Demetrios, Aiden, Andreas, Tamaine, Nicholas, Cameron and Linkon; and a host of cousins, uncles and aunts.
Sydney’s love is survived by the endless number of extended family, friends and strangers alike that she’s managed to embrace over the short amount of time she spent on this earth. To say she’ll be missed is an understatement. Her physical presence is no longer with us, but rest assured, her spirit surrounds us and her soul rests at the side of the creator.
A memorial gathering will be held at GUNDERSON STOUGHTON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1358 Hwy. 51 North at Jackson St., Stoughton, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2019. Online condolences may be made at gundersonfh.com.

Praying for strength and peace during this time of sorrow. Remember and cherish the good times that you shared with her. Know that I am saddened and I hurt with you all not only because Sydney was my children's cousin but because I have and always considered you all my nieces. Love you all!
