Obituary

MADISON - Cora Jane Crawford, age 86, was reunited with her husband, Ben, on Tuesday, October 22, 2024. Cora was born on December 19, 1937, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of Frank and Muriel (Gaffney) Andreas. She graduated from Verona High School in 1955, after which she attended nursing school and worked at Madison General Hospital.  


Cora met her beloved Benjamin Crawford while he was airman stationed at Truax in Madison and they were married on December 30, 1961. The couple spent a short time in Ontario, Canada when Ben was transferred to Sioux Lookout. After their return to Madison, Cora worked at Madison General and later worked at the Monona Drive Nursing Home. Cora enjoyed fall drives through the countryside with Ben and watching football, especially the Badgers, the Packers and the Fighting Irish.  


Cora is survived by her son, Michael (Diane); daughter, Susie (Jerry Ladwig); grandchildren, Evan (Skye) Zeimet, Danielle (Kory) Frank, and Benjamin (Mikaela) Crawford; and great- grandchildren, Garrett and Connor Frank, and Noa Crawford. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Pullara; and many nieces and nephews. Cora was preceded in death by her husband, Ben; infant son; parents; five brothers, John, James, Anthony, Charles and Paul; and sister, Margaret (Anderson).


A celebration of Cora’s life will be held at OAKSTONE RECREATION CENTER, 304 Commerce Parkway, Cottage Grove, Wis., from 2 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.

Aunt Cora(Sister) was my God Mother. I remember when I was about 5, I had my tonsils and adenoids removed. She would sneak me in some popcycles. Loved her wit, and unapologetic outlook on just about everything. Go with God Aunt Cora
