Obituary
BLACK EARTH - Janice A. Brunner, age 92, of Black Earth, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020, at her home surrounded by family. She was born on July 30, 1928, in Cross Plains, the daughter of Albert and Teresa (Nilles) Stoppleworth.
Janice graduated from Middleton High School. She married Francis Brunner on May 8, 1947, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Cross Plains. Janice worked as a clerk for the Wisconsin Department of Motor Vehicles and for RSVP for over 30 years, receiving a length of service award. She was a member of the St. Barnabas Altar Society.
Janice was an accomplished seamstress, proud of the fact that she made the wedding gowns and bridesmaids dresses for each of her 8 daughters, plus countless family friends. She loved creating flower arrangements and was an avid gardener. She was a master of homemade bread making, her specialty-TeaRing was loved by all. Most important to her were her family gatherings, Ribfests, Brunner Fest, reunions and above all the Family Christmas Party. She proudly displayed her beautiful Fontanini Nativity collection all year long.
Janice is survived by seven sons, Steve (Dolly), Brad, Robert (Jean), Kenneth (Cindy), Kerry (Cheryl), Raphael (Elaine) and Douglas (Kari) Brunner; eight daughters, Linda (Bob) Peart, Vicki Ripp, Kathleen (Donald) Wonn, Gerilyn (Kevin) Krantz, Mardelle (Michael) Zanoni, Jacalyn (Mike) Salazar, Janyce Stank and Shelley Brunner; a daughter-in-law, Rosaline Brunner; her sister, Bobbie Hilgers; her brother, Albert (Jean) Stoppleworth Jr.; 49 grandchildren and step-grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; and very special family friends, Annie (honorary daughter), Tom and Josie McKenzie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Francis Brunner; son, Stan Brunner; three daughters-in-law, Mary Brunner, Danita Brunner and Tonya Brunner; son-in-law, Vern Ripp; four sisters, Mardelle Ripp, Marilyn Stoppleworth, Rosalind Haak, Jeanene Paddock; and a brother, Rodney Stoppleworth.
Private Mass of Christian Burial will take place at Holy Cross Catholic Church with private burial at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery of Pine Bluff. A PUBLIC visitation will be on Sunday, Jan. 3, 2021, at Holy Cross Catholic Parish Family Hall, 410 Cramer St., Mazomanie, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. Social distancing and masks will be required.

My assignment at St. Barnabas Parish in Mazomanie was a privilege in so many ways. I had the good fortune to meet Jan Brunner whose friendship I have enjoyed ever sense. She embodied the heart of Jesus Christ in her love for her family, neighbor and her faith in God the Father. I feel blessed to have known Jan and to have been blessed by her friendship, support and prayers.
