Dave Strait

MCFARLAND – Dave Lee Strait, age 80, passed away on October 14, 2026. He was born in Madison, on October 26, 1945, to Dorothy (Lemke) and Don Strait.

Dave was united in marriage to Linda (Gray) Strait in 1978. He was self-employed for 23 years and dedicated 35 years to working as a mechanic and truck driver. He found joy in country music, cherished time spent with his family, and had a lifelong passion for fast cars.

He is survived by his children, Sara (Bob), David, Diane (Mike), Don, Julie, Jenny, and Kevin; 18 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; siblings, Barb, Beanie, Nancy, Sue and Doreen; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda; parents, Dorothy and Don; daughter, Dana; and siblings, Elvin, Don Jr., Butch, Chester, Roger, Loyd, Terry, Donnie, and Dana.

A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 1 p.m. on Sunday, October 25, 2026. Burial will take place at Roselawn Memorial Park. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Sunday.
