April 08, 1943 - October 26, 2018
Obituary
MIDDLETON-Marilyn Jean Rogeberg, age 75, passed away peacefully with her loving family surrounding her on Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, after a short battle with cancer. Marilyn was born April 8, 1943, in Madison to Herman and Irma Niesen. She married the love of her life, Lars Rogeberg, on June 8, 1963. They would have celebrated 55 years of marriage this summer. Marilyn was a nurse and administrator at Rest Haven Health Care Center, and later worked at UW Health where she retired after 45 years in the health care field. Marilyn had many passions: her grandchildren, her flower gardens, volunteering at the food pantry, water aerobics, and her life-long friends. She took great pride in making a graduation quilt for each grandchild. She also enjoyed many sunsets, “Golden Moments”, on Bughs Lake in Wautoma. Marilyn is survived by her daughter, Kari (Tim) Doerfler; grandchildren, Taylor Zwart, Jake Doerfler; daughter, Wendy (Bob) Coyne; grandchildren, Alex (Katie), Seth (Leah), and Josh (Brittany) Coyne; daughter, Cindy Rogeberg (Tony Colin); grandchildren, Morgan, Abby and Bailey Kalscheur; son, Brad (Tammie) Rogeberg; grandchildren, Derek, Kayla and Cole Rogeberg. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lars, and her parents, Irma and Herman Niesen and her beloved canine companion, Charlie. A memorial gathering will be held at the GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Avenue, Middleton, on Friday, Nov. 2, 2018 from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. We’d like to thank all the Bughs Lake neighbors for their unconditional support to our parents.

My Aunt Marilyn taught me so much. She supported me in ways she probably didn’t realize. She helped me during some confusing times as a kid. She trained me to work as a nurses aid and inspired me to want to help people. I will always remember her laugh and how she could make fun of you and make you feel loved at the same time. I always felt at home at the Rogeberg house and cherish my memories growing up spending so much time with my cousins and Aunt Marilyn and Uncle Lars.

I have many happy memories of Marilyn. My sister, Jean, and Marilyn were best friends for many years. I remember girls weekend at the "Lake House" in Wautoma. Marilyn lived a couple of houses down from the Nygren's. Many happy memories of cocktail hours spent with Marilyn, Lars, Jean and Doug. I laughed so much my cheeks hurt. You will be greatly missed my dear friend but you are now reunited with the love of your life for all eternity. RIP Nancy Hawkins

I wish I could describe the hole I feel in my soul having lost my best friend. We have known each other since kindergarten. We moved away for a few years, keeping in touch, but getting together was always like we had never left. We have enjoyed many trips with our husbands over the years. We have covered a lot of miles and Lars drove them all. The similarities in our lives have been unprecedented . I will miss you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you for your love and friendship, I will always be thinking of you.

We had many wonderful dinners together, early morning coffees, breakfasts at El Popo. And wonderful times watching our dogs play on the beach. Bob and I loved Marilyn. We are very saddened by the loss of Marilyn, Lars, and Charlie the dog.

The children provided a very touching experience for close friends and siblings in her final days and hours. Thank you so much for sharing that very private time with us.
She will be dearly missed by all whose lives she touched.
