Helen M Pittack

MCFARLAND - Helen M. Pittack, age 94, of McFarland, passed away on Friday, Sept. 9, 2022, at Kindred Hearts in Cottage Grove. She was born on March 27, 1928, in Morgantown, W.V., the daughter of Frederick Plowmaker and Delilah (Brewer) Harris.

As a young girl, her father passed away and the family moved to Milwaukee, where she grew up and graduated from West Division High School in 1947. Helen proudly served in the U.S. Navy from 1951 - 1955. Following her honorable discharge from the Navy, Helen married and raised her family in the McFarland area.  Helen worked at the Monona Copps Grocery Store in the bakery department during the 70s, then continued working at the Stop-N-Go located at Pflaum Road and then retired from the Rimrock Road location.   

Helen enjoyed reading, especially fiction books.  She belonged to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  An elder shared these kind words with the family, “She was so sweet. Always happy and kind to me, I will miss her.”

Helen is survived by her daughter, Susan (Bob) Wesenberg; sons, Michael (LeeAnne) Pittack and Andrew Pittack; grandchildren, Jay (Emily) Dommershausen, Gabriel (Heather) Dommershausen, Anton Wesenberg, Samuel Wesenberg and Anya Pittack; great-grandchildren, Trey, Addy, Ezra and Veda and sisters and brothers of Jehovah’s Witnesses.   She was preceded in death by parents; sisters, Margaret, Frieda, Louise, Doretta, Edna Mae, Mary Jane and Lola; nephews, George and Scott; and nieces, Mary Ann and Lori.

In keeping with Helen’s wishes, no services will be held. The family wishes to thank the caregivers from Kindred Hearts and the care team from Heartland Hospice for all of their wonderful care and support given to Helen. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
