Richard was a wonderful and giving man with an amazing eye for photography. The beautiful orchid photos that he took benefited the Madison Orchid Growers Guild and sit now in many of our homes. He was a kind and gentle soul and will be dearly missed as is his wife, Pat. So sorry for your loss. Terri Jozwiak, Chairperson Orchid Quest, member of Madison Orchid Growers Guild

I was very sad to read about Dick's unexpected death. We were colleagues in the DNR Bureau of Research from the time I started in1977 until he retired. I have many fond memories of Dick during those years ranging from enjoying his Christmas party eggnog to working with him on a host of projects. I learned a lot from him. As his obituary stated, he was truly THE expert on the aquatic insects of Wisconsin. While reconnecting on the sad occasion of Pat's funeral, Dick spoke to me of his avid interest in photography and just being a grandpa. I'm very sorry for his family's loss. He will be missed. RICHARD NARF WAS A STANDOUT INTELLECTUAL IN HIGH SCHOOL.
I WISH I HAD GOTTEN TO KNOW HIM BETTER, BUT WE RAN IN DIFFERENT
CIRCLES. I AM GLAD TO SEE HE HAD A LOT OF SUCCESS.
