Our Dad Richard (Dick) was a very active, social, friendly, funny guy. He loved to ride his horse's most, recently Smokey. He loved to work in the fields on the property, bale hay, spread manure, mow his lawn. Just plain be outside in the sunshine.
He loved to go camping with Mom and the horse's at various camp grounds in the area. They would ride in the woods for hours. At times they would go with Sam Anderson and Paulette Kerr. Dad and Sam go way back to AMPI days. Dad loved to go to coffee in the morning with his coffee buddies.
Dad and Smokey also came down to ride with me in Tennessee. Dad had made a lot of friends in Tennessee, Miriam, Mary, Julie, Jan, Lynn to just name a few. The last time Dad was in TN riding was October of 2012 right before he had his stroke. I was so proud of him for getting on Smokey every morning at 80 years old and ride that little horse for miles and miles with me thru the woods, up and down mountains, along the creeks. I was so very fortunate to have spent that time with him. I will miss him deeply.
Dad died where he wanted to at home on his property.
I will miss you Dad.
I know you are in a better place free of pain, walking, hiking with Mel and KC, riding a horse, holding Mom in your arms. You would be so proud of your children right now!
Love you and miss you so much!
Connie

I knew Dick because his daughter Connie is one of my best friends. I enjoyed Dicks company & loved listening to his stories. He was very generous in sharing his garden goodies; zucchini, tomatoes, etc. Dick was easy to talk to & also a good listener. He was fun to be around. I got to ride his horse Smokey and wish that I could have gone riding with Dick. I know that he loved his home, being outside, and visiting with people. Dick will be missed by everyone who knew him including me. Betty

My condolences to Dicks family. I still have a quilt his Mom gave me when I was very young. My Mom (Rachel Geiger Miller) was a half sister to Rose. I cherish this quilt that was completely hand stitched. My first trip to visit was in 1950. The last I had met with any of the relatives was in the early ‘80’s. Peace and prayers.
