Obituary
WAUNAKEE - Ronald Yenter was born on Jan. 13, 1939, Friday the 13th as he often joked, and died peacefully on Aug. 28, 2022. Ron was known as “Ron” or “Ronnie” to friends and family. Ron was in the U.S. Navy and later worked at Kohl’s Warehouse where he retired to own and operate his own taverns, Ron’s Derby in Milwaukee and Montana Lake Inn for a short time in Northern Wisconsin. Ron was always an avid fisherman and hunter. He spent many of his last years in Pound, Wis., where he made many friends and often visited the local taverns to enjoy the company of friends and new acquaintances and enjoy a few beers together.
Following an amputation of his leg, Ron spent the last four years of his life at Waunakee Manor in Waunakee, Wis., so he could be closer to his family. Although Ron did not enjoy having to spend his last years being cared for in a nursing home facility, Ron considered each staff member as a friend who he could enjoy conversation and joke with. We would like to thank everyone at Waunakee Manor for their exceptional care. Thank you to Brighton Hospice who provided Ron with visits and assured he was comfortable. We are especially grateful to Ron’s Social Workers, Shauna and Samantha, who helped us to advocate for him with his surroundings and comfort during his time with you.
Ron is survived by his ex-spouse and friend, June Yenter (nee Wolf); his children, Renee “Zee” Zanow, Ronald R. “Butch” Yenter and Cynthia (Mary “Gus”) Geske; his grandchildren, Veronica, Joseph, Kellie, Kolten and Chelsea; siblings, Joseph Yenter, Kathleen “Kutchie” (Lee) Armstrong and Mary Percy (Jim Talbert); brother-in-law, Ed DeLonge; along with his great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and special friends from Milwaukee and Northern Wisconsin.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph Christ Yenter and Eva A. (Lecher); his daughter, Debra Yenter; son-in-law, Michael Styden; his siblings, Patricia DeLonge, Barbara Yenter and Richard Yenter; and sister-in-law, Doris Paschke.
