Obituary

MADISON - Dallas C. Quamme, age 75, passed away Thursday, Oct. 26, 2023, after a lengthy battle with COPD. He was born in Madison, Wis., the son of Ruben and Mabel Quamme.


Dallas graduated from Madison East High School in 1966. He was a member of the Curling team which finished third at state his senior year.  He later proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corps. Dallas enjoyed spending time in Hawaii during his enlistment. In his early adult life, he enjoyed fishing and shooting pool.


Dallas received an associate degree which furthered his long career with UW Hospital where he spent many years as a CAD designer. He was generous and liked to share jokes. Dallas married Barbara Borgurd and the couple had two children, Brian and Melissa. They later divorced but remained lifelong friends, sharing holidays and family celebrations together.


Dallas enjoyed playing Euchre and bowling, as well as shaking dice with friends at Joe’s Fire Station and Park Side Pub. His hope for his grandchildren is for them to be a friend, and to stand up for others.


Dallas is survived by his children, Brian (Tracy) Quamme and Melissa (Mike) Lund; grandchildren, Taylor, Sawyer and Granger Quamme; as well as siblings, Orval (Carol) Quamme, Thomas (Mary) Quamme, David (Rita) Macintire, Joseph Couglan, Jeff (Jodell) Quamme, Carol (Tom) Arnold and Ella Norland. He was preceded in death by his parents; as well as siblings, John Quamme Sr., Charles Macintire, Camilla Caliva and VanEtta Caves.


A funeral service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 12 noon on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2023. A visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday. After the burial at Roselawn Memorial Park, the family invites friends and loved ones to gather for a celebration of life at PARK SIDE PUB, 5016 Erling Ave., McFarland.

Dallas was a Friend to my husband and I. He lived in our neighborhood and worked with my husband at the UW. Our Sons went to Elementary School together. We were sorry to hear he passed. RIP Dallas
