OREGON - Irene J. Umen, age 84, of Oregon, Wis., passed away on Sat., July 2, 2022, at Sage Meadow in Middleton, Wis. She was born on May 21, 1938, in Minsk, Ukraine, the daughter of Serge and Anna Jankowski.
Irene graduated from Tuley High School in Chicago. She worked as a lab technician for the University of Minnesota for over 30 years.
Irene was a great cook. She especially enjoyed cooking traditional Polish food, such as pierogi and borscht. She was a very loving and generous person, who enjoyed being around people, but spending time with her grandchildren was her greatest joy.
Irene is survived by daughter, Julie Thompson; son, Timothy K. (Sarah Taylor) Thompson; and two grandchildren, Elijah and Ezra Thompson. She was preceded in death by her parents; and brother, Leonard Jankowski.
