Madison - Laura Hazel Marie Zemp, age 90, of Madison, passed away on Monday, Jan. 1, 2024, at Timberwood Lodge Assisted Living. She was born on March 13, 1933, in Prairie du Sac, the daughter of John and Selma (Demstedt) Heintz.
Laura graduated from Mazomanie High School. She married Raymond Zemp on Sept. 27, 1952, in Mount Horeb. Laura worked for Wisconsin Education Association, retiring in 2011. She enjoyed visiting casinos, playing bingo and thrifting.
Laura is survived by her two daughters, Bette (Michael) Vivian of Barneveld and Bonnie (Wayne) Jones of Mount Horeb; three grandchildren, “Biggest Best Grandson” Kole (Christi) Vivian and their daughter, Scarlett; “Best Granddaughter” Jessica (Mack Arnold) Jones; and “Littlest Best Grandson” Brad (Caroline) Jones and their daughter, Lydia; special friend, Agnes; and other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond; son, Thomas Zemp; parents; brother, Ervin (Gladys) Heintz; and sister, LaVina (Edwin) Evert.
A funeral service will be held at MOUNT HOREB EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 315 E. Main St., Mount Horeb, at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2024, with Pastor John Twiton presiding. Burial will be held at Union Cemetery, Mount Horeb. Visitation will be held at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Wednesday.
