Charlotte Ann Sutter

MOUNT HOREB - Charlotte Ann Sutter, age 90, of Mount Horeb, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2022, at Ingleside Manor. She was born on April 5, 1931, in Elkhorn, the daughter of Cassius and Harriet (Watson) Ellsworth.

Charlotte graduated from Elkhorn High School in 1948. She was united in marriage to Arthur Sutter on May 8, 1954. Charlotte was the proud wife of a farmer and valued her work as a program assistant for the State of Wisconsin for over 20 years, retiring in 1995. She was a member of the Malone School Mother’s Club.

Charlotte worked actively with her husband, Art, on the family farm. In later years she worked with her son, Matt, and daughter-in-law, Julie, in their U pick strawberry business. Charlotte loved spending time in her flower and vegetable gardens. She enjoyed bowling and quilting and traveling with her sister, Joyce, and visiting her siblings. Charlotte’s family ties were very important to her. She lovingly hosted family holiday gatherings, and picnics on the farm, even after she resided at Ingleside Manor. Charlotte’s grandchildren, Jessica Kardas, Colman, Jeremy and Hannah Sutter, Katie and Andrea Miller, and Zachary, Morgan and Taya Sutter, and great-grandchildren, Cassius Pederson, and Jasper and Stella Sutter, have all celebrated with her under the oaks at Sutter’s Ridge.

Charlotte is survived by her sons, Paul (Mary) Sutter, and Matthew (Julie) Sutter; daughters, Carolyn Smith and Janet (Dale) Miller; as well as her sister, Janet Bewley; brother, Donald; and sister-in-law, Helen Ellsworth. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur; parents; and sisters, Joyce Johnson and Dorothy Staton.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. INGNATIUS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 109 S. Sixth St., Mount Horeb, at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Feb. 19, 2022. Burial will be held at St. Ignatius Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Saturday.
