Obituary
BLACK EARTH - Ruth L. Page, age 101, of Black Earth, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024, at Heartland Country Village. She was born on June 23, 1923, in Vermont Township, the daughter of Melver and Ella (Norslien) Bordson.
Ruth worked for Weber Bakery in Cross Plains decorating cakes and as a clerk for Patron's Mercantile Grocery Store in Black Earth. Ruth was a devoted and loyal member of Vermont Lutheran Church. She served as their parish treasurer for many years, was secretary of WELCA, and sang in the church choir contributing her beautiful soprano voice since she was in high school. Ruth also made quilts for the church mission and helped with the Lutefisk dinners, luncheons and anything else the church needed. She also loved to bake her Norwegian desserts for all to enjoy.
Ruth was a very caring lady, especially when it came to her grandchildren. She was always baking something for them. We could always rely on Grandma Ruth and often find her out at the farm checking out the gardens on her way to or from church. Her zest for life was admirable and we will all remember her quiet laugh and contagious smile.
Ruth is survived by many loving family members. She was preceded in death by her parents; and son, Carroll Page.
A funeral service will be held at VERMONT LUTHERAN CHURCH, 9886 Vermont Church Road, Black Earth, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2024, with Pastor Rebecca Clancy presiding. Burial will take place at Vermont Lutheran Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be gifted in Ruth’s name to Vermont Lutheran Church.
