I’m so saddened to hear of Russ’s passing. I was one of his ground school students back when I was taking flying lessons. He always said that I had the highest grade on my written test of any of his students. I always told him that was because I had the best teacher! I always enjoyed seeing and visiting him. He will be greatly missed. Wayne Knudson

Russ was a wonderful person to know and being a part of his family meant that he was concerned about us and did what he could at every opportunity to make our challenges a little lighter. He was a very smart guy and a great resource for me when I was trying to fix something or build something and things were starting to go south. I worked for him briefly right out of college, learning skills that would help me do my own electrical work around our home. My first time flying was in a single engine plane with Russ and Paige when Paige and I first started dating. This was also where he gave me the chance to take the controls and fly a little by myself. No take-off, no landing, but for me, what a thrill. Great memories from a great guy. He will truly be missed.
