Elva Jean Hanna
February 19, 1932 - July 06, 2021
Obituary
MOUNT HOREB - Elva Jeanne Hanna, age 89, of Mount Horeb, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. She was born on Feb. 19, 1932, to Olaf and Ella (Swingen) Christianson in Daleyville, Wis.
Elva Jeanne was united in marriage to Glenn O. Hanna on Oct. 11, 1952, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Together they raised three children. During her life, she enjoyed being a homemaker, working at Hoff Store in the shoe department and later at Ingleside Nursing Home in the kitchen, retiring in 2004. She was a lifelong member of Mount Horeb Evangelical Lutheran Church.
Elva Jeanne is survived by her three children, Steven (Paula) Hanna, Kevin (Lisa) Hanna and Kristin (Joe) Muehlenkamp; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; three sisters; and relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn, in 2011; her parents; and nine siblings. Our family finds comfort in knowing that mom and dad are now together in heaven.
Our family would like to thank Dr. Trevver Buss for his years of dedicated and compassionate care of our mother and the wonderful caregivers at Girlies Manor, Cross Plains, Ingleside Nursing Home, Mount Horeb, and Agrace HospiceCare, Fitchburg.
A private memorial service will be held at Evangelical Lutheran Church in Mount Horeb, with the Rev. John Twiton presiding.
Memorials may be made to Mount Horeb Evangelical Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
SAFELY HOME
I am home in Heaven, dear ones;
Oh, so happy and so bright!
All the pain and grief is over,
Every restless tossing passed;
I am now at peace forever,
Safely home in Heaven at last.
Did you wonder I so calmly
Trod the valley of the shade?
Oh! but Jesus' love illumined
Every dark and fearful glade.
And He came Himself to meet me
In that way so hard to tread;
And with Jesus' arm to lean on,
Could I have one doubt or dread?
Then you must not grieve so sorely,
For I love you dearly still:
Try to look beyond earth's shadows,
Pray to trust our Father's Will.
There is work still waiting for you,
So you must not idly stand;
Do it now, while life remaineth -
You shall rest in Jesus' land.
When that work is all completed,
He will gently call you Home;
Oh, the rapture of that meeting,
Oh, the joy to see you come!
