MOUNT HOREB - Thomas Gail Handel, age 86, of Mount Horeb, passed away on Friday, Oct. 20, 2023, at Ingleside Manor. He was born on Oct. 10, 1937, in Madison, Wis., the son of Florian and Rosella (Disrud) Handel.
Tom graduated from Goddard College in 1987 with a bachelor of arts degree. He served two years in the U.S. Army, from June 1959 to June 1961. He married his wife, Janice, on Nov. 3, 1962. Tom worked as a Federal Meat Inspector. He retired after 42 years of service.
Tom was a kind man who helped out his neighbors. He and his wife enjoyed taking trips together and raising three children. He enjoyed spending time with his family, including four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Tom also enjoyed farming and owned a farm in the Black Earth township.
Tom is survived by his daughter, Teresa (Eric) Steffen; and son-in-law, Brian Davis. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jake (Taylor) Arneson, Chris Arneson, Danny Handel and Serena (Bassett) Handel; as well as his great-grandchild, Leo Arneson.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Janice Handel; son, Kevin Handel; and daughter, Lori Davis.
