FITCHBURG / MOUNT HOREB - Robert Raymond Gentz, age 88, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 3, 2024, at Badger Prairie Health Care Center, Verona, Wis.
Robert was born on Dec. 16, 1935, in Madison, the son of Raymond and Melissa (Raisbeck) Gentz. He attended school in Mount Horeb and then married his childhood sweetheart, Barbara Peterson, on Nov. 8, 1952.
He provided for his family by working in the dairy industry and driving school bus for many years. In his free time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and simply being outdoors.
Robert is survived by his children, Mary Ellen (Richard) Tremelling of Fitchburg, Robert Jeffrey (Ok Soon) Gentz of Deming, N.M., and Margie (Phillip) Price of Lake in the Hills, Ill.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brother, Howard (Patty) Gentz; and sister, Ruth (Roger) Schmitz. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara, in May 2023, and also by his parents.
A memorial service will be held at SPRINGDALE LUTHERAN CHURCH, 2752 Town Hall Road, Mount Horeb, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 13, 2024. Burial at Springdale Lutheran Cemetery will follow the service on Saturday.
