Obituary
BLACK EARTH - Audrey B. (Kidd) Curtis passed away peacefully surrounded by the love of her family on Saturday, January 31, 2026. She was born on June 12, 1934, to Paul and Linda (Krueger) Kidd. Her family settled into the Black Earth community when Audrey was a junior in high school and she soon found lifelong friends at the Black Earth High School, graduating in 1952. She went on to attend Cosmetology School in Madison. It was during her high school years that she met the love of her life, John (Jack) Curtis. They were married on June 6, 1953. After Jack returned from active-duty service they settled and made their home in Black Earth.
Jack and Audrey welcomed four children and became active in their community as Audrey became a stay-at-home mom raising her children which was her main focus throughout her life. Later in life as her children grew, she entered the workforce in 1978 joining the staff of Affiliated University Physicians (AUP) as a receptionist. It was at AUP that she made many friendships which remained years after she retired. Audrey retired in 1998 and she and Jack enjoyed many winters as snowbirds among their friends at The Moonspinner Condominiums in Panama City Beach, Fla. As life often happens, and winter trips became more difficult, she and Jack settled into their life here and enjoyed family and followed their grandchildren and great-grandchildren’s many events. They were always front and center to support the generations. After Jack passed in 2017 Audrey remained in her home until June, 2024, when she became a full-time resident of Maplewood in Sauk City until her passing.
Audrey is survived by her children, Kathy Loger of Caledonia, Minn., Terry (Mark) Moyer and Tom (Heather) Curtis of Black Earth; and grandchildren, Heather (Francis) Myhre and Emily Schroeder of Caledonia, Jessica (Tary) Handschke of Sauk City, Bryan (Shannon) Moyer of Black Earth, Zachary (Montana Morauske) Curtis of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Sophie, John and Charles Reader of Black Earth. She is also survived by her great- grandchildren who created so much joy around her, Grace, Styrk, Liv Myhre and Thomas and Tribble Schroeder of Caledonia, Ava and Claire Handschke of Sauk City, and Jaede and Chesney Moyer of Black Earth. Audrey is further survived by sisters, Louise Fosshage and Paula (Clem) Kelter of Black Earth; brother, Michael (Nancy) Kidd of Milwaukee; sisters-in-law, Mary Curtis of Portage and Judi Curtis of Mazomanie; and many nieces and nephews. Audrey was blessed to have a special friend in her life, Barb Olson, who shared a lifetime of friendship, sorrows and joy. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jack Curtis; son, John Hugh Curtis; great-grandson, Ryker Schroeder; parents, Paul and Linda; and her sister, Virginia Vacha. All that knew Audrey, loved Audrey!
