Delores "Dee" Bryant

MOUNT HOREB - Delores Elizabeth Bryant, age 92, passed away peacefully on February 25, 2025, at Girlies Manor in Mount Horeb. She was born on August 20, 1932, on the farm in Springdale, to Casper and Wilma Swiggum.  

Delores grew up on the farm in Mount Vernon and graduated from Mount Horeb High School. On December 9, 1950, she was married to Jim Bryant at Zwingli United Church. She and Jim raised four children in their Mount Vernon cheese factory. There she loved gardening, canning and baking those yummy cinnamon rolls.  

Delores was a life member of ELC and taught Sunday School for 12 years and an active member of Rebecca Circle. She worked many jobs: Mount Vernon Telephone Company, a school cook, JC Penney switchboard operator, and finally ending her career at AFSME Counsel 24. She was a member of homemakers, bowling and snowmobile clubs in Mount Vernon. They also enjoyed years spent up north at the cabin in Minong, fishing, canoeing and campfires.

Delores spent 20 plus years in Pinellas Park, Fla. Toes in the sand, wind in her hair and sun on her face. She loved traveling throughout the United States and other countries, even winning a yodeling contest in the Swiss Alps. She was always out having a good time dancing the polka and enjoying a Brandy Old Fashioned. She loved dressing to the “nines” and always having bling to match. She sparkled on the outside and on the inside.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Jim Bryant; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Damon (Jeanette) Bryant and Richard (Joan) Bryant; and a special friend, Norman Oates. She is survived by her children, Judy (Soura Chareunsouk) Bieri, Bonnie (Mark) Hayden, Nancy (Dennis) Fredrick and Fred (Lynn) Bryant; and grandchildren, David (Renee) Bieri, Melissa Bieri, Carly Bieri (Dave Witke), Patrick Hayden, Michael (Therese) Hayden, Mark A. Hayden (Kate Buenger), Joshua (Jenna) Fredrick, Jesse (Nicole) Fredrick, Karli (Nick) Ross and Jackson Bryant (Rachel Schubring). She was also blessed with 13 great-grandchildren, Lucas, Owen, Mason, Dale Marie, Sammy, Sadie, Ryder, Aurelia, Margot, Layla, Jacob, Leo and Lainey. She is further survived by a sister, Arlene (Doral) Larson; and nieces and nephews.

Our heartfelt thank you to Agrace Hospice staff who cared deeply for our dear mom. Also, thank you to the staff at Girlies Manor (Vitacare). A special thanks to Cheryll Holley for everything she did.

Delores was a friend to all who knew her. She loved her family and told us how lucky she was. We were the lucky ones, and your memory will live on forever in our hearts.

A funeral service will be held EVANGELICAL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 315 E. Main St., Mount Horeb, at 12 noon on Saturday, March 8, 2025, with a luncheon to follow. A visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.
