CROSS PLAINS - Judith Kay "Judy" Bergum, age 83, of Cross Plains, passed away on Sunday, Aug. 21, 2022, at SSM Health-St. Mary's Hospital. She was born on Sept. 14, 1938, in Madison, Wis., the daughter of George Henderson and Alma (Hawke) Henderson.
Judy married Dean Bergum on Oct. 29, 1960, in Madison and they were married for almost 55 years until Dean’s death. Prior to retirement, Judy enjoyed a career of 30+ years at News Publishing Company in Black Earth. She was known as a warm and friendly person with a great sense of humor.
In her free time, Judy loved watching the Packers and Brewers. She was an avid reader, loved playing cards and Scrabble and doing crossword puzzles. She enjoyed a variety of music, especially Elvis and country music.
Judy is survived by her daughter, Deborah (Bryan) Loney; son, Michael Bergum; sister, Ruth Tupper; and brother, George "Clifford" Henderson. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dean; sisters, Dolores Noggle and Eileen Campbell; brothers-in-law, Calvin Noggle, Charles Campbell and Floyd Tupper; and beloved dogs, Chipper, Chrissy, Candy, Murphy and Duffy.
The family would like to thank Dr. Janelle Hupp, Dr. Alissa Weber, SSM Health Hospice, and the staff at Girlie’s Manor for the wonderful care they provided our mom.
A celebration of Judy’s life will be held at GUNDERSON CAMACHO BLACK EARTH FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1710 Center St., Black Earth, from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2022. Burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Black Earth.
