OREGON-Tonya Jean Burrell, age 34, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018. She was born on March 31, 1984, in Madison, the daughter of James Baron and Karen (Kuck) Hammon. Tonya attended Oregon High School and married Lee Burrell on Feb. 14, 2011. She enjoyed spending time with her family, baking and being around people. Tonya is survived by her mother, Karen and step-father, Robert Hammon; husband, Lee Burrell; daughter, Jasmine Nelson; son, Javian Burrell; step-daughters, Alexia and Larita Burrell; step-sons, Zachary and Jordan Burrell; grandchildren, Leeyah, Lariyah and Lavon; brother, Kyle Hammon; sister, Breezy Rich; and grandparents, LaMerl and Christine Hammon. She was preceded in death by her father, James Baron; and grandparents, Walter and Henrietta Kuck. Funeral services will be held at PEOPLE’S UNITED METHODIST CHURCH, 103 North Alpine Parkway, Oregon, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Aug. 30, 2018. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

Back in High School, you were one of my best friends. I feel like we were so close but you got lost somehow. I couldn’t save you and we grew apart. I’m so sad I didn’t make it to celebrate your life because honestly you should be celebrated. You had the biggest heart and felt like nobody could understand you. I don’t think anyone really did and even though I wanted to be there thick and thin, I think you went searching for that love and understanding in the wrong places. I’m so sad to have heard you passed away. I still feel sad years later. I wish I never let you go but I’m not sure I could save you anyhow. I pray you’re at peace and have all the love you deserve in heaven. Praying for your babies as well. Rest peacefully my friend.
