Obituary
WAUNAKEE- Julie Virginia Anderson of Waunakee died on Friday, August 17, 2018. Julie was born in Dodgeville, the daughter of DuWayne and Betty (Keller) Dougherty, on Nov. 15, 1963. She graduated from Iowa-Grant High School in 1981, and worked for the State of Wisconsin in the Department of Vocational Rehabilitation. Julie is survived by her daughter, Whitney Pope; son, Justin Anderson; and two grandsons, Domynic Pope and Allen Ladd. She enjoyed saying she was the youngest of her siblings, Rick (Judy) Dougherty of Arizona, Eileen (Tom) Nickels of Platteville, Connie (Don) Gronemus of Cuba City, Greg Dougherty of California, Cindy (Ray) Hach of LaCrosse, and Trish Dougherty of Viroqua. She is further survived by many uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces, cousins, step-children, step-grandchildren and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother-in-law, Larry Philips; and stepson, Carl Jermaine Anderson. Funeral services will be at LIFE CENTER MADISON, 4402 Femrite Dr., Madison, at 12 noon on Thursday, August 23, 2018. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. I worked with Julie until I retired in 2013. She was a hard working woman who cared for her family and deserved better than the outcome she had to go through. I hope her surviving family will be okay. BF.

When I was staying with Julie out at the farm (very young age I won’t mention), we decided to ride double bareback on her horse down a dirt road. She got the horse running so fast I couldn’t hold on and I went flying off the back of the horse and had the wind knocked out of me. Betty (her Mom) came to my rescue as Julie laughed it off. I wish I could remember the horse’s name. Thanks for the memories Julie!!! Rest in Peace. Camy Jewell

Julie was a wonderful neighbor who always had time to chat and pet our dog Bella. She always had a kind word and a smile. She was a hardworking mom who adored her kids and her grandkids. She was a loving, caring, generous woman who will be very much missed in our little community. Julie and I became very close friends when our daughters were attending the same elementary school. I had only known her a week or two when she pulled into my driveway and insisted my girls & I come with her (and Whitney) to the PTA meeting that evening. She was very excited about it and I couldn’t resist her enthusiasm. She later nominated me to be the treasurer and a few years later, president. She also gave me a personal reference that helped me on my path and we babysat each other’s kids. We lost touch, but always remained friends. I will miss her big smile and positive influence.
