Jean Van Dreel

Jean, or simply “Mom”, was a second mother to me, the one who with her sweetness, broad smile, calm gaze, supportive and exact words. Her wise advice and great love made me feel like another son ever since the first day I arrived as a foreign student to live in their house, back in 1979. We share an unforgettable year in the home of this great family . Since that year, she and Dad traveled to Argentina many times, where we had the pleasure of sharing many trips and experiences. She generated a genuine affection with Ceci, through long talks, unforgettable after-dinner conversations; her advice and life experiences and cooking recipes . For my four children, she is simply Grandma, their grandmother of life, since they had the opportunity to live with them, each in their own time, the three months of school recess before their last year of high school. They were not only received as true “grandchildren” but they traveled with them to meet each of their children. Last year we were lucky enough to share a week with Ceci in Door County with the entire VanDreel family and Diego and Mariana, other “son of life from Argentina”. We shared and enjoyed a few days unforgettable; and this year we all met again for a few days in Arkansas, with the excuse of seeing the eclipse. The last week of September we flew to shared a few days with them in Monona, to celebrate Dad's birthday along with all the family again. So many memories, so many words, so many laughs, so many fun moments. We will always remember you with Ceci and our children with much love, dear mom and grandma, an extraordinary human being, a new angel who has ascended to heaven from where continues to illuminate us with her light. I remember her very well. I met her several times for a chat and for happy summer dinners at their house on the south cliff of Manty. I have a very good feeling about her. She was a very very good person, a helpful person. Peace to her soul 🙏🏻
