Obituary
MIDDLETON-Jacqueline Belle Ross passed away on Friday, July 6, 2018, at UW Hospital, surrounded by her family. She was born on April 6, 1934, to James Hoy and Ruth Vera Beveridge. She grew up in Somonauk, Ill., where the church her family helped found still stands. Jacquie enjoyed a simple and happy childhood on the family farm. She grew up in a close-knit and religious family that instilled a strong faith and values that carried her throughout her life. Her close relationship with her brother, James continued throughout their lives and was very important to her. She married Roger Lee Ross in 1960, and they started their family in Wheaton, Ill., where they had three children. They moved to West Chicago, Ill., where they lived for ten years before finally settling in Middleton. The most important things in her life were her family, her faith, and her friends. Through these she demonstrated her love, devotion and kindness. Jacquie was soft spoken, sweet and thoughtful. She was extremely close to all three of her kids, Lynn, Jim and John, and her daughter-in-law, Heidi. Jacquie often said how lucky she felt to have all of her kids living close to her so she could be a part of their lives, but in truth we were the lucky ones. Equally important to her were her grandkids, Jacob, Carley and Emily, along with her granddog, Wrigley. She often reminisced of having her grandkids over for sleepovers, Sunday brunches, and vacations with family and friends. Her professional life included teaching preschool, medical transcription, and a long career/work family at Dr. Rogerson’s office. In each of these phases of her life she made many close friends, resulting in a very fulfilling social life. Jacquie is survived by her kids, Lynn, Jim and John (Heidi); grandkids, Jacob, Carley and Emily; brother, James (Ede) Beveridge of Mesa, Ariz.; her two nieces, Jamie (Darcy) Swaim of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Jonna (Joe) Copalman of Mesa, Ariz.; dear cousins, Mary Beveridge and Nancy (Frank) Beardsley; as well as many other wonderful friends and relatives. She was preceded in death by her father, James; her mother, Ruth; and husband, Roger. Funeral services will be held at COVENANT PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 326 S. Segoe Rd., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Thursday, July 12, 2018, with the Rev. Charles Berthoud presiding. Visitation will be at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of the service on Thursday. A private burial will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church.

Jacquie will always be" my next door neighbor" even though we actually lived next door to each other for a few short years. During this time our children played with each other while we shared recipes, dinners , dreams and lots of conversations, mostly about our Christian faith and teachings from the bible. When I woke up each morning ,and while half a sleep, headed for the kitchen and a cup of coffee. I would look out my window and see Jacquie up, dressed and changing the sheets on the boys beds. I though "wow I must get going if I am to catch up with her" When I returned to the hospital to work part time in the evenings ,it was Jacquie who cared for my daughters after school and until my husband returned from his teaching job. It was Jacquie who would report that my husband had a cold or that he had a difficult class to teach to keep me up on what was happening in his life. My girls loved her and still do. After moving to Middleton we mostly wrote letters to each other and when her letter came I would sit down and read it and enjoy another visit from her. We did this for many years but for the past four or five years I started calling her on Saturday mornings from wherever I was ,to see how her week went and to tell her about mine. She would laugh and ask me if we were having pancakes or waffles this Saturday. I missed that call today. She was one of the most patient, loving, and sweet woman I have ever known. She loved our Lord first but her family second. "I am so lucky to have all three of my children nearby and they are so good to me" I told her that was because she was so good to them, always. I miss you already and will look forward to our many talks in eternity. Love you Jacquie. Rea Johnson

Dear Lynn and family,
I am so sorry for the loss of your mom and grandma. There's a special place in all of our hearts for our mothers, just like there's a special place in every mother's heart for her children. Continue to carry her memory in the special place in your hearts.

My heart is heavy just thinking of the fact that she has gone from us.I first met JACQUIE when she and I and other dear friends sat at the bedside of another friend who was ill and living out her final days.. It was after that friend passed, that we struck up a close relationship. We met every month for dinner somewhere and enjoyed each other’s company. We would plan the next month each time so it was rare that we missed a month. Jacquie was a warm and friendly soul . I felt better after each time I was in her presence. She thought the world of her children and they were always there for each other. She was indeed fortunate to have such devoted children. Jacquie is the only person I know that kept a daily journal for many many years. I don’t believe she ever missed a day . I will miss her smiling face and warm heart!! Rest In Peace dear friend!!
