December 16, 1946 - June 24, 2018
Obituary
MIDDLETON-The sun will no longer shine as bright for those who loved Joanne Currie Woellner. Jo peacefully passed onto her next journey on Sunday, June 24, 2018, surrounded by her loving family at her home.
She was born December 16, 1946 to Virginia McQuillan Currie and Edward L. Currie. She graduated from East High School and earned her B.A. in Education from the University of Wisconsin. She met and married Tim, her husband of 40 years, and they have a daughter, Amy Joanne. After teaching at Poynette High School for thirty years, she retired to be a full-time “Gramma” and to tend to her "work of art" landscaping. She received her Certificate of Master Gardening and created a true air b&b for all flying critters.
Joanne is survived by her devoted husband, Tim; her dearly loved daughter, Amy, and husband, Josh and cherished grandchildren, Josie and Colton Whitford. She is further survived by loving brothers, Jim (Peggy) Currie and Jerry (Anita) Currie; nephews, Jason (Jenny) Currie, Jamie (Quinn) Currie and Macallan Currie; half-sisters, Cheryl Schwarz, Terrie Storlid and Louann Sheridan; special soul sisters, Sheryl Batten, Bonnie Mast, Jeanne Cantwell and so many other extended family and friends that will feel the loss of her beautiful, gentle, accepting, and generous spirit. Her physical beauty was always apparent, but her true beauty lay beneath. Joanne was preceded in death by her parents.
Tim and Amy give their heartfelt thanks to all who kept a bed-side vigil...the room was always filled with love and to Agrace Hospice for their care, advice and support.
An open house celebration of life will be held at her home at 4939 Highwood Circle, Middleton, from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Friday, July 6, 2018.You don't know how strong you can be until being strong is your only choice. Rest in your new garden, Jo Jo, you will surely be the beautiful bird/butterfly that would chance to land on our windowsill.
Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I met Joanne in the fall of 1967. We became very close and remained that way for over 50 + years. She was in every way an amazing person. I loved Joanne and a piece of my heart went with her. Tim, Amy and family know I share deeply in their sorrow. We will miss her every day of the rest of our lives. We will forever honor her memory by giving lots of hugs to those we love, as she requested during her final days. You can now soar with your beloved birds, our blonde beauty. I love you. Rest In Peace Jo. 🌹

Beautifully written in honor of a beautiful woman inside and out. She has touched many with her soft touch and tender heart, truly an “earth angel.” Written with heartfelt condolences, her East High Class of ‘65 classmate, Kathleen Wells Erickson.
