He was a Badgers basketball season ticket holder, and loved taking his girls.  He looked forward to the Wendler Brother's Golf Championship each year (at last count it was tied 8 to 8).  Dan was the ice skating, gymnastics, soccer, swimming and diving dad!  He loved spending time with his family and attended as many sporting events for his nieces and nephews as he could. He was thoughtful, humble and always willing to give a helping hand.  He was the voice of reason, and always gave wise advice.  Dan was his family's everything, he was their rock.  Daniel  is survived by his wife, Debbie; daughters, Maddie and Claire Wendler; his parents, Milton and Kathy; brothers, Steve (Karen ) Wendler, Tim Wendler and Mark (Lyndee) Wendler; father-in-law, Ronald (Patricia) Lueck; brothers-in-law, Mark Lueck, Brian (Tina) Lueck, Kevin (Dawn) Lueck, Travis (Becca) Lueck; sister-in-law, Kelly (Dan) Carlton; grandmother, Ruth Wendler; nieces and nephews on the Lueck side, Ashley, Evan, Elliot, Gracie, Miley, Cassandra, Colton, Jacob, David and Anna; nieces and nephews on the Wendler side, Alex, Jackson, Mitchell, Olivia, Tealyn, Tanner and Torynn; and many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Trickett Wendler.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. MARIA GORETTI CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5313 Flad Ave., Madison, at 1 p.m. on Friday, June 22, 2018, with Monsignor Michael Burke and Father Robert Evenson concelebrating.  Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Friday.  A private family burial will be held at a later date.  In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the family for a college fund to be established for his daughters or The ALS Association Wisconsin Chapter, 3333 North Mayfair Rd., Suite 104, Wauwatosa, WI 53222-2319.  Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com. I work with Dan and we worked on several projects together. Dan is a great guy who was wonderfully considerate and kind . In a business environment that is sometimes hard to show but he did it with Grace. My heart goes out to his family. God bless you all . Chris

One day when Dan and I were golfing and the loser had to buy lunch. Well, Dan had me by two strokes going to the last hole.and we were both on the green eyeing up our putts, Dan was closer and I knew I was in trouble. He had been dating Deb for awhile and I figured I was toast unless I got some help. I started to tell Dan that I was going to call Deb right then snd there so he could say hi and to see if I could get him nervous. Sure enough !! I made my birdie putt and Dan 3 putted from about 6’ . Dan bought lunch and I knew Deb was the one. I used that same strategy many times to my success. His face lit up just hearing her name and his concentration for golf was shot. He won his share eventually and I will cherish our time spent together at work and on the golf course. I will miss my friend who left us waaaay to early. Marc

My sincere sympathies on your loss. We will keep your family in our prayers. Dan was an amazing person to work with. I worked with him mostly in regards to our shipping needs at Fiskars. He would always deal with issues in a calm and professional manner. I will certainly miss him here at work.

I worked with Dan at Newell. He was the greatest person to work with. He was always so upbeat and such a pleasure to be around. He has been taken from so many that will miss him, much too soon. RIP our dear friend.
