SUN PRAIRIE - David Ronald Mickelson, age 81, of Sun Prairie, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 17, 2022. He was born on Dec. 23, 1940, in Plain, Wis., the son of Harold and Mabel (Taylor) Mickelson.
David married Mary Jenkins in Madison, WI. He worked as an arborist for the City of Madison until retirement.
David enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, camping and taking family vacations. He loved to dance and play cards - Euchre and Cribbage were his favorite. He also liked taking care of his plants. Most of all he loved and cherished the time spent with his family.
David is survived by his four sons, David (Karen) Mickelson, James (Dolly) Mickelson, Mark Mickelson, and Jeff (Kim) Mickelson; eight grandchildren, Christopher, Zachery, Daniel, Joel, Joshua, Olivia, Tanner, and Seth; and three siblings, Jerry, Marilyn, and Alice. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Ellen Mickelson; parents, Harold and Mabel; and siblings, Harold, Helen, and Betty.
A memorial service will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Drive, Madison, at 3 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2022, with Pastor Seth Hecox presiding. A private family burial will be held at Vienna Union Cemetery at a later date. A visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday.
