Obituary

MCFARLAND-Bruce Alan Bailey, age 52, of McFarland, passed away on Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at SSM Health, St. Mary's Hospital surrounded by his family. He was born on May 5, 1965, in Madison, the son of Gerald Bailey and Loretta (Fladhammer) Bailey.  He graduated from East High School in 1983.  Bruce worked for the City of Madison, street division for 27 years, and owned Jerry's Place in Madison.  He was a very giving and generous man who was always ready to give a helping hand.  Bruce was an avid sports fan, and loved the Badgers and Brewers.  He also enjoyed playing baseball and golf, and loved watching his children’s sporting events. Bruce is survived by his daughter, Abbey Bailey; mother and step-father, Loretta and Thomas Bailey; nephew, Ross Lewandowski; special friend, Geri Kubly; and special canine companion, Holley.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Vicki Bailey; and father, Gerald Bailey.  Funeral services will be held at MCFARLAND LUTHERAN CHURCH, 5529 Marsh Rd., McFarland, at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 21, 2018, with a luncheon to follow.  Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Friday, April 20, 2018, and also at the church from 11 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday.  The family would like to thank the 1st Responders and the staff at St. Mary’s Hospital for their care of Bruce. Bruce, like his Dad and Sister is a beautiful person. He always had a smile and was polite to anyone he said hello to. That smile and beautiful twinkling eyes will be missed by many of us who have known him since he was in his teens. Prayers and condolences to his loved ones.

I am really sorry for your loss. Bruce was a very wonderful person. I met Bruce three years ago at my job. He and I talked a lot about family and business. he loved his daughter a lot. She is the light of his life. I will miss seeing his bright and smiling face. Kathy Deneen
