My name is Kathleen King . I used to live at Capitol Center.I made friends with Craig there. I didn't get to go to the life celebration because one of my medications needed to be searched down, so I'm writing about Craig instead.Craig liked creative writing a lot anyway. My first memories of Craig were seeing him walk his dog,Linus. Before even knowing him well, it was clear to see how much he loved that dog.Linus was a nice dog . Everybody in the building liked him. My other memory of Craig before knowing him well was his father visiting him. I must assume that Craig's father was also helping Craig, but they also seemed to enjoy eachother socially. The last time I saw Craig and his father , the Overature had just opened. I had been asked to attend a concert as part of my volunteer job for someone I used to help support in her final years. We had box seats . I was pretty excited about that. I had never been in box seat before. Two other people shared our box seat . Those two people turned out to be Craig and Mr.Smith.I didn't know them well but I knew them well enough by then to know that they were part of our Capitol Center community. The four of us had a good time together. When Craig and I talked about that evening neither one of us could remember anything else about the show other than running into eachother and having a good time. Then one time Capitol Centre was having their Thanksgiving dinner and Craig called me over to sit with him. He did the same thing a month later. Our guest musician, John Duggleby ended his really great show with a song he wrote about entertaining seniors and people with disabilities.I couldn't concentrate on the lyrics because I was going nuts because, as I was telling Craig , the song reminded me of Buddy Holly.Craig smiled at that.Craig had a nice smile. To be honest,I found his smile attractive. He told me,"My Brother really likes Buddy Holly." Craig invited me to sit with him at other Capitol Center events. An unwanted picture of a candle won't go away. Please ignore it. I liked Craig so I invited him to downstairs activities too. We had a Super Bowl party on our own without staff. The Packers played and won. Craig came down and sat with me during the first half of the game, before his early bedtime . I shared my earbuds with him to show him how cool radio play by play is. We had another Super Bowl party a year later, unfortunately, not the Packers this time, it was February third, the anniversary of the plane crash. When I was waiting for Craig to meet me downstairs, I wrote about Buddy Holly, Ritchie Valens and The Big Bopper on Facebook .When Craig came downstairs, I showed it to him. He read it, then he told me. " That's very moving".That made me feel good. Craig stuck around longer than he usually did at night, and we laughed at the stadium losing it's electricity to their halftime show. Craig and I started visiting eachother's apartments and sitting in the courtyard. One of my favourite memories is when we we watched his DVD of Andy Griffith tv shows that featured Don Knotts as Deputy Barney.we were sitting there cracking up. his cat liked me and tried to block the door when it was time for me to leave. On the day Dave Bruebeck passed away,Craig and I got together at his apartment and played his Bruebeck records on his FIIINE stereo. On time in early autumn I asked Craig to read to me this ''August Derleth ' that Your're always talking about. He did that evening at his apartment. That was magical. One Saturday evening I got a phonecall from Craig asking if he could visit me .I said, "Sure!" He came up and said, "I needed to get away from the music'' I laughed, "You wanted to get away from music, and You came here?" I'm a musician,my primary interest is music, and rockabilly was blasting on my stereo from Rockin' John's radio show. Craig said, " I needed to get away from my own music for awhile" He had excellent taste in classical and jazz music. Rockin' John was playing extremely rare Rockabilly songs that even I had never heard before, and rockabilly is the type of music I like most of all. Craig was saying "I remember this song" about one song after another. And I was like, "You KNOW these songs?!!, and he said, "Yes,I used to hear them in college at Brown." To Craig's sister and his sister in law: I never met either one of You, but I want both of You to know that Craig really enjoyed those trips you took him on. He talked about them a lot to me, describing them to me in detail, and looking forward to them beforehand. I hope You enjoy my writing,Craig.
