Delbert Kerl

TOWN OF BERRY/CROSS PLAINS-Delbert W. Kerl, age 75, passed away on Monday, May 7, 2018 at Meriter Hospital in Madison. He was born on November 23, 1942, in Madison, the son of Walter and Valeria (Martin) Kerl. Delbert was a veteran of the U.S. Army, where he proudly served his country as a military polic officer, in Germany, for two years; this is where he met his wife, Elfriede Huebner.  They were married on September 2, 1967 in Cross Plains. Delbert worked for many years for Lester Buildings and Cleary Buildings.  In his spare time he enjoyed fishing and tending to his summer garden.  He is survived by his loving wife, Elfriede; sons, LeeRoy (Meg Myefski) and Graig (Laurie) Kerl; granddaughters, Abby and Riley Kerl; brother, Orville (Ruth) Kerl; sister-in-law, Lore Domke and many nieces, nephews and cousins.  Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Valeria Kerl; brother, Gerald Kerl; and brother-in-law, Allen Domke. A Memorial Gathering will be held at GUNDERSON FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 2421 Church St., Cross Plains, from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. on Wednesday, May 16, 2018.  Burial will be in Valley Home Cemetery, Cross Plains.  Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.
