Carol Jean Olson

MADISON-Carol Jean Olson, age 77, passed away on Wed., April 18, 2018. A Gathering will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, from 1 PM until 3 PM on Saturday, April 28, 2018. Burial will follow at Arena Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.  Carol Jean Olson, age 77 of Madison passed away on Wed., April 18, 2018.  She was born on June 6, 1940 in Highland WI., daughter to Irving and Carol Baker. They moved to Arena WI. where Carol graduated from Arena High School, met and eventually married Willard M. Olson on August 30, 1958. Willard and Carol moved to Madison WI., where they lived for over 60 years, raised five children and numerous pets. Carol was employed by Central WI., Center until she retired in 2006.Carol was a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt and friend.  She especially enjoyed spending time at their cottage in Northern WI., property on the WI., River, camping with family and friends, and special trips with her brothers and sisters-in-laws.  Carol celebrated family and friends hosting gatherings and always enjoyed the 4th July parties her and Willard would host.  She enjoyed gardening, was known for her baking and cooking, was an excellent seamstress, needle crafter and food preserver.  Carol was preceded in death by her husband on November 26, 2017, her parents Irving and Carol Baker. She is survived by her children and grandchildren, Deborah (Olson) Hurst, Cheryl Olson and Michael J. Hurst, Michael and Cindy (Peat) Olson, their children Jessica Olson, Elizabeth Olson, Kristine Olson and Noah Olson; Denise Olson, Marc and Sharon (Vosen) Olson, their children Maygan Olson and Sydney Olson; three brothers Dick (Helen) Baker, Bruce (Sue) Baker, Gary (Joan) Baker. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON WEST FUNERAL & CREMATION CARE, 7435 University Ave., Middleton, WI., from 1 PM until 3 PM on Saturday, April 28, 2018. Interment will be held at Arena Cemetery, with a luncheon immediately following at Ewing-Olson VFW 514 Willow St., Arena WI.
