Jane A. Meeker

MCFARLAND- Jane A. (Mergen) Meeker, age 76, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, April 18 2018. Jane was born in Grant County and raised on the family farm in Bloomington, Wis. After high school, she moved to Madison where she attended business school and met her future husband Dennis, while living in the same apartment complex.Those apartment years created a close bond of friends that still stands today. Jane and Dennis were married on October 24, 1970, in Bloomington. They moved to McFarland where they resided for over 40 years and raised two children, Tim and Julie. Through the years Jane worked at UW-Madison, Kraft-Oscar Mayer, the State of Wisconsin and Swiss Colony. Jane was always close to her faith and was a Charter Member of Christ the King Catholic Church in McFarland. She enjoyed time with family, catching up with friends, long trips to Florida, scrabble games with Julie, flowers, the outdoors and quiet time for reflection. Jane was truly able to find the goodness and a ray of sunshine with anyone and in any situation. She was particularly proud of her son, daughter, grandchildren and her entire Mergen family roots. She loved her granddaughters; they were her pride and joy. She could always be found cheering them on at their activities and school programs. Jane is survived by her husband, Dennis Meeker; son, Tim (Sandy) Meeker of Waunakee; daughter, Julie Meeker of Oviedo, FL.; granddaughters, Aimee, Kailee, and Emilee Meeker; sister, Joanne (Bill) Guess of Camp Douglas, Wis.; brothers, Carl Mergen of Bloomington and Paul (Cheri) Mergen of Madison; brothers-in-law, Jim (Marilyn) Meeker of Hub City, Wis., and Lyle (Marian) Meeker of Middleton. She was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Loraine Mergen; mother-in-law, Florence Meeker; and sister-in-law, Sue Mergen. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at CHRIST THE KING CATHOLIC CHURCH, 5306 Main St., McFarland, at 11 a.m., on Monday, April 23, 2018. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 22, 2018, and also at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service on Monday.
