Obituary
FITCHBURG-Blanche E. Berkvam, a wonderful wife, mother, and Nana, age 90, went to heaven on Saturday, April 14, 2018, to watch over and guide her loving family. Blanche was born on Aug. 24, 1927, the daughter of Henry and Florence Kessenich. She was a wonderful example of persistence, devotion, and hard work. Blanche worked as a telephone operator, and school lunch server where she made all of the delicious bakery and desserts. She also had a successful dry cleaning business with Gene. Our hearts are full that Blanche’s spirit is now gloriously reunited with her husband of 58 years, Gene, the love of her life; her children, Steven and Sandy; along with many special family and friends who went to heaven before her. Blanche’s joy of family, love and commitment sustain us, especially by her loving daughter, Debbie; devoted son-in-law, Tim; and three cherished grandchildren, Matt, Emily, and Marissa, who will forever hold her memory and spirit in their hearts. It is our honor to call Blanche; wife, daughter, sister, Mom, and Nana. She leaves our family with a legacy of love, and the closeness and bonds of family. Join us to celebrate her life and legacy at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, with a service on Saturday, April 21, 2018, at 12 p.m., with the Rev. Ken Smith presiding. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the time of the service on Saturday. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to Midvale Community Lutheran Church. Online condolences may be made at www.gundersonfh.com.

I remember Blanche as a fun loving, happy and caring person who had a marriage to Gene that we all dream about. Blanche was one of the hardest workers I have ever known with her working until she
and Gene no longer could. She took care of her husband and soulmate Gene, her love for Debbie was so great that no mother could have loved more. I can just imagine what a GRAND FANTASTIC NANA she was. Blanche was not a very big woman but she more power in her that people twice as
tall and more energy.. She was a HERO to so many of us and I will miss saying Hygiene to Gene and
hearing her laugh at her husbands jokes. The first time I met her my mother-in-law Zelma told me that Blanche had so much sorrow in her life with her two children who lost their fight with their health
problems but that she never showed any thing but a happy face, Her faith in God is an example to us all. I wish Debbie and her family so many happy memories to share with each other and never stop laughing as that was what your mom Blanche would want.
I love you
