MIDDLETON - Mary Elizabeth Cook, age 98, of Middleton, passed away on Tuesday, Dec. 6, 2022, at Waunakee Manor. She was born on Jan. 15, 1924, in Shullsburg, Wis., the daughter of Frank and Emma (Schuchart) Northouse.
Mary enjoyed playing euchre, making rosaries, traveling and knitting and crocheting, including hats for St. Mary’s infants. She was the oldest parish member of St. Bernard Catholic Church in Middleton and proudly volunteered at the church doing various things. Mary loved spending time with her family and cooking and baking, especially during the holidays. In her early years she would farm with her husband, Lawrence. She will be dearly missed by her whole family.
Mary is survived by her sons, Lawrence (Jeanne) Cook Jr., Dennis (Lisa) Cook and David (Wendy) Cook; daughter, Anne (Tony) Cook; grandchildren, Michael (Lena), Sadie, Abbey (Lish), Christopher, Brandon, James (Sam), Stacy (Corey); great-grandchildren, Hannah, Erika, Bowie, Olivie and Lennox; and sister, Gertie Fiedler. She was preceded in death by her parents; and husband, Lawrence Cook Sr.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7450 University Ave., Middleton, at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 12, 2022, with Father Brian Wilk presiding. Burial will follow at Resurrection Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Monday.
Memorials may be made to St. Bernard Catholic Church or Agrace HospiceCare. Mary’s family wishes to thank the staff, doctors, nurses and CNAs at Waunakee Manor and from Agrace. The care was so compassionate from all.
