Obituary
STOUGHTON - Alma Dahl, age 79, of Stoughton, passed away peacefully on October 3, 2025. A bright light with a heart made for giving, Alma spent her life bringing joy to others-through her care, her laughter, and her presence.
Born on July 1, 1946, the daughter of Thorris “Slim” and LaVerne Hofland, Alma grew up in Stoughton, Wis., and graduated with the Class of 1964. Just days after graduation, she married the love of her life, Delmer Dahl, on July 14, 1964. Together, they shared 61 beautiful years filled with family, adventure, and love.
At age 40, Alma fulfilled a lifelong dream by returning to school and becoming a nurse. From that moment on, she poured herself into caring for others in a whole new way-always with compassion, strength, and a sparkle in her eye.
Alma had a gift for making people feel special. Whether she was entertaining at the senior center in costume, baking something sweet in the kitchen, or sharing a Saturday shopping trip with her daughter, Alma found joy in the everyday moments-and spread that joy to everyone around her. Her family will forever cherish her beloved Christmas cookie recipe and will continue to pass it down through generations as a treasured tradition.
Alma loved picking out new jewelry, bowling with the girls, cooking delicious meals, and-most importantly-being surrounded by family. Alma and Delmer shared a passion for travel, cherishing memorable adventures in the stunning landscapes of Alaska and Hawaii, as well as enjoying frequent visits to Gulf Shores, Ala., and Branson, Mo. Many unforgettable memories were also made in St. Germain, where they spent countless Memorial Day weekends with their children and grandchildren.
Alma is survived by her devoted husband, Delmer; son, Scott Dahl; son-in-law, Gordon Johnson; five grandchildren, Josh Johnson (Amanda), Alicia Hoops (Phil), Michael Dahl, Jeffrey Dahl and Lissa Dahl; and seven great-grandchildren, Kylie (Ryan), Paityn, Hunter, and Chase Hoops, Amelia and Jack Johnson and Aubrey Dahl. She is reunited in peace with her beloved daughter, Sherry Johnson; daughter-in-law, Kari Dahl; her parents, Slim and LaVerne Hofland; and her sisters, Alice Barton and Mary Olson.
Her life will be honored in a private family gathering.
Although Alma is no longer with us in person, her warmth, humor, and generosity will live on in every story we share and every batch of cookies we bake. In her memory, we invite you to carry her spirit forward by doing an act of kindness in her honor.
