Dean V. Nonn

OREGON-Dean V. Nonn, age 85, of Oregon, passed away surrounded by his family on Friday, March 23, 2018. He was born on Dec. 6, 1932, the son of Joseph and Catherine (Annen) Nonn. He was united in marriage to Alice Hellenbrand on Nov. 23, 1954. Together, they raised six children. Dean farmed his entire life while spending 30 years working for McKee Brothers. After he retired, he continued farming with his three sons in Brooklyn. Dean’s greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family and sharing stories with his grandchildren. He loved tinkering with his Farmall tractors, gardening, playing Euchre and listening and dancing to polka music. Dean was known as a person who would do anything for anyone. He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather and friend. Dean was loved and will always be cherished. He is survived by his wife, Alice, of 63 years; daughters, Debbie Turk and Bonnie Deaver; sons, Roger, Duane, Doug and Randy (Mary); nine grandchildren, Heidi (Dan), Heather (Bill), Sarah, Dean, Brittany (Brad), Ammie, Cathy, Nick and Tony; five great-grandchildren, Mason, Madison, Brayton, Keaton and Emily; his brother, Reuben; and many nieces and nephews. Dean was preceded in death by his parents; siblings, Harold, Vera, Aurelia and Nora; and son-in-law, Tim. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at HOLY MOTHER OF CONSOLATION CHURCH, 651 N. Main St., Oregon, at 11 a.m., on Wednesday, March 28, 2018. Burial will follow at Highland Memory Gardens with a luncheon to follow at church. Visitation will be held at GUNDERSON OREGON FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 1150 Park St., Oregon, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m., on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, and at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Wednesday.
