MADISON- Marion J. Thor, age 100 passed away on Tuesday, March 27, 2018. She was born on Nov. 8, 1917, in rural Grant County, the youngest child of Frank and Angeline (Vosberg) Wiederholt. Marion was united in marriage to Walter Thor on Oct. 12, 1938, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Kieler. They were married for a wonderful 62 years before his passing in 2001. Marion had many hobbies including sewing and quilting, often taking classes at MATC to expand on these hobbies. Marion is survived by her children, Terry (Margie) Thor, and Jean (Dan) Lucey; grandchildren, Katie (Blair) Boggs, Thomas (Kirsten) Thor, Michael (Carole) Thor, and Jill Lucey; thirteen great-grandchildren; and brother-in-law, Stanley Thor. She was preceded in death by her husband, Walter; sisters, Ruth (John) Hentrich and Emma (Aloysius) Berning; brothers, Raymond (Gertrude) Wiederholt and Frank Wiederholt; grandson, Brett Lucey; and son-in-law, Dan Lucey. “As the last member of the Frank and Angie Wiederholt family to leave this world I’ll have to put out the light and lock the door.” A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. BERNARD CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2450 Atwood Ave., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Monday, April 2, 2018, with a luncheon to follow. A private burial will be held at Roselawn Memorial Park. Jean, Terry and families,
I hope this info will be forwarded to everyone.
Saw Uncle Stan yesterday at Shirley Averkamp's funeral mass and learned that your mom had passed away a couple of months ago. I was shocked to hear the sad news. Please accept my belated wishes of concern for you and your families. The last time I saw Aunt Marion she was sharing info with me about her quilting projects. Then last year we were all showering her with Birthday cards and best wishes in honor of her 100th birthday. She will be missed but will always be in our memories.
