Obituary
MADISON-Caroline C. Dodson, formerly of Madison, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 22, 2018, at The Meadows in Spring Green. She was born in the Town of Washington, Sauk County, on Feb. 20, 1924, to William and Meta Kruse. Carol married A. Richard Dodson on Nov. 15, 1945. As a military wife stationed at air force bases across the U.S., she raised five children, returning in Wisconsin in the 1960’s. Carol stayed busy with her many hobbies. She was an award winning quilter, enjoyed cards at the Monona Senior Center and loved growing prized roses. Carol crafted porcelain dolls and teddy bears and traveled with her SAS and KAYRA friends. She took up golf later in life and scored a hole-in-one at the age of 80! Carol was well-known in the family for her special recipes, from dumplings to her lemon meringue pie. She looked forward to watching her favorite teams, the Packers and the Brewers, while enjoying an afternoon beer. Carol is survived by her children, Judy (Colleen) Dodson, Connie Schultz, Tom (Laurie) Dodson and Kathy (Bob) Ragan; grandchildren, Brandee, Kim, Rebecca, Sarah, Harley, Jeff, Emily, Gabe and Meta; and eight great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her daughter, Sherryl Bushnell; and her son-in-law, Larry Schultz. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, with Pastor Mark F. Bartels presiding. I am very sorry to learn that Caroline has passed away. She was a warm, loving woman and will be dearly missed. I hope a passage at John 5:28,29 brings comfort to all who are grieving her loss. May we all look forward to seeing our loved ones like Caroline again.

To the Dodson family -
So sorry to hear of the loss of your mother. I remember your mother fondly. We lived across the street on Spohn avenue when you all returned to Wisconsin after your father's retirement. I remember Connie saying that it was the "agreement" that your mother be allowed to settle back closer to family after all those years of traveling in the service. Sounds like it was the right decision for her and she enjoyed many years of that retirement. Thoughts and prayers to you all.

My sympathy to the family. I played bridge at the Monona Senior Center & Elks with Carol. I also played euchre with her at the Monona Sr. Ctr. and we would joke about how many nickels we won. One time when she was thinning out her iris, she game me some hugh peach ones that have multiplied for me.
