Geraldine R. Connell

MADISON- Geraldine “Jerrie” R. (Germann) Connell, age 78 of Madison, passed away on Monday, March 19, 2018. She was born on July 26, 1939, the daughter of LaVern and Marie (Stormer) Germann. Jerrie was united in marriage to Richard “Dick” Connell on June 21, 1958, in Madison. She attended Madison East High School. After graduation, Jerrie started working as a long distance telephone operator at Wisconsin Bell, and later a proof reader for the ad department at Madison Newspapers. Upon the blessed arrivals of her four children, Jerrie chose to become a stay at home mom. A job she cherished beyond compare. Jerrie and Dick were longtime parishioners of St. Dennis Catholic Church. She was a reliable card partner, and enthusiastic bingo player. Jerrie always enjoyed bowling with close friends and family. Her spontaneity and thirst for new experiences were fueled with road trips and adventures. She often volunteered at concessions for the Kennedy Little League. Jerrie was a talented knitter. She graciously donated her handcrafted shawls, to cancer patients, and hats to newborn babies. Jerrie would go above and beyond to bring out the spirit and magic in every holiday. Her love for her children and grandchildren was unconditional. Jerrie and her husband, Dick shared a deep love and bond. Jerrie is survived by her husband, Dick; children, Janie (Scott) Brischke, Joni (Rick Price) Connell, Linda (Randy Syftestad) Novy and Michael (Debie) Connell; grandchildren, Lauren and Joshua Brischke, Jason and Erik Rau, Kaitlyn (Josh) Kelley and Kyle Connell; two great-grandchildren, Sutton and Jackson Kelley; sister, Shirley Miller; and many nieces and nephews whom she adored. She was preceded in death by her parents; and five siblings, Jerrie was the youngest child. Funeral services will be held at ST. DENNIS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 505 Dempsey Rd, Madison, at 11 a.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018, with Father Allam presiding. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens with a luncheon to follow.
