Obituary

SUN PRAIRE - Our beloved husband, dad, and friend, John D. Bigelow, age 78, of Sun Prairie, WI, looked up to Heaven and went home on October 12, 2025.


John was born August 25, 1947, to John and Margaret (Starker) Bigelow in Doylestown, WI. He was married to Madonna (Kouba) Bigelow, and together, they enjoyed their family, friends, travels, and working outside.


John graduated from Rio High School in 1965. He loved watching the Brewers, Badgers, and Packers. He worked in the printing field, but his favorite place was cutting and hand-splitting wood at his dear friend’s farm. John loved hunting, gardening, playing cards, and fishing.


He is survived by his loving wife, Madonna; and a combined family of his daughters, Brooke (Robert) Miller and Blaire (Joshua) Moyé; bonus children, Jenny Kilpatrick, Julia (Cassie) Eyers Getz, Andy (Kelsey) Eyers and Paul (Josie) Eyers; sisters, Marjean (Arlen) Anschutz and Patricia (Nick) Dann; brother, Donald (JoEllen) Bigelow; and nine grandchildren, Natalia and Isaiah Moyé, Anja and Ian Johnson, Noah Eyers Getz, Annalise and Sophia Eyers, and Arelia and Renarin Eyers, who he adored and brought him great joy! He was preceded in death by his parents.


A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at ST. ALBERT THE GREAT CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2420 St. Albert Drive, Sun Prairie, at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 24, 2025, with Father Robert Butz presiding, followed by a luncheon at the church. Burial at Sun Prairie Cemetery will follow the luncheon. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass on Friday.
