MADISON- God needed someone to tend to his flower garden. Gwendolyn L. Corcoran, age 103 ¾, of Madison, passed away on Thursday, March 8, 2018, at Agrace Hospice Care in Fitchburg. She was born on June 8, 1914, in Seneca, Wis., the daughter of Orville and Irene (Davidson) Gay. Gwendolyn was united in marriage to William Corcoran on Sept. 30, 1938, in Madison. Gwendolyn was known for her remarkable quick wit, and sense of humor. She loved setting out on shopping adventures, especially during the holidays, seeking out special Christmas gifts for her grandchildren became cherished memories for Gwendolyn. Her love of sports remained constant throughout her life. She enjoyed watching the Badgers, Packers but most of all, her grandchildren. Grandma was their number one fan. Some of the best moments were planned visits and long days looking after her beloved grandchildren. Gwendolyn was a longtime and devout member of Luther Memorial Church, she embraced her faith wholeheartedly and in every aspect of her life. Above all, the most precious thing in her life, was her family. Gwendolyn was so proud of her strong, growing family and treasured the legacy she created. Gwendolyn is survived by her daughter, Janet Crary of Madison; daughter-in-law, Barbara Strutzel of Stoughton; grandchildren, Christine (Bill) Enright, Jeffery (Michelle) Corcoran, Sheryl (Timothy) Kluever and Dawn Nelson; 10 great-grandchildren, Jacob, Emmett, Samantha, Liam, Raine, Ella Gwen, Brookelynn, Victoria, Hailey, Clint and Kamryn; great-great-grandchild, Avery; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; two sons, Rodney and William Jr.; four sisters, Connie Hubanks, Carol Gay, Phyllis Youwer and Betty Miller; son-in-law, Darrell Crary; and two brothers, James and Thomas Gay. Funeral services will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 2 p.m., on Sunday March 11, 2018, with Pastor Rebecca Ninke presiding. Burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 1 p.m. until the time of the service on Sunday.
