Marie Ann Tyson

Marie Ann Tyson, age 86, of Sun Prairie, passed away peacefully on Saturday, Feb. 24, 2018 at St. Marys Hospital. She was born on Oct. 6, 1931, the daughter of Steven and Nellie (Anderson) Franckowick. She was born in Marshfield, and spent her early years at St. Michaels Orphanage in Lacrosse. She later moved to Watertown, where she met and married her husband.  After raising 6 children, she continued to care for others; bringing both mentally handicapped and elderly people into her home.  She always had time to help who ever needed her.  She always put others ahead of herself; always being kind and supportive to all she loved. Marie loved several hobbies, such as ceramics, cards, puzzles, embroidery, the annual Christmas cookie baking with her family, and her favorite pastime BINGO.  She had many friends at Frost Woods retirement community, Goodman’s Community Center and Monona Community Center. Marie was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and Sister. She loved and cherished her family above all.  She was especially proud to be a twin.  Marty and Marie had an unspoken bond only twins share. Her departure leaves a hole in our hearts and she will be missed by all who had the privilege of sharing her life. Marie is survived by her two sons, George (Judith) Tyson and Gerald (Teresa) Tyson; three daughters, Theresa (John) Soderlund, Mary (Michael) Philipps, and Debra (Jack) Finberg; son-in-law, Ronald Hanusa; grandchildren, Amanda, Jenilee, Kristen, George, Justin, Tiffany, Courtney, Danielle, James, Curtis, Jason, and Troy; 8 great-grandchildren; one brother, Steven (Carol); and sister, Martha. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Susan Hanusa; 4 brothers, Clarence, Oscar, Elroy and Bert; and sister, Bertha. A Celebration of Life will be held at GUNDERSON EAST FUNERAL AND CREMATION CARE, 5203 Monona Dr., Madison, at 12:00 pm on Friday March 2, 2018. Burial will be held at Highland Memory Gardens. Visitation will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the service on Friday. Memorials may be made to St. Vincent de Paul.
