Obituary
MADISON-Lillian Smock left this world on Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2018, at the age of 97. She was born to Joseph and Magdelen Stepanske on Aug. 23, 1920, in Menasha. Lillian was united in marriage to William Smock on June 15, 1941, in Neenah. She was a born caregiver, helping her family and friends through the years. Lillian worked her entire life, finally retiring as admission supervisor at UW Hospital in Madison. She and Bill then enjoyed several years in Sebring, Fla., until Bill’s health brought them back to Madison. After Bill’s passing, Lillian lived with her daughter, Gail, and son-in-law, Glenn Phippen, until moving to Aster Assisted Living in 2015. She will be remembered as the sweet, beautiful lady that she was by her loving daughter, Gail; grandchildren, Tracy Hall, William Phippen and James (Jill) Phippen; her six great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Her memory will also be cherished by her dear nieces and nephews who meant the world to her. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, William; son-in-law, Glenn; three sisters; and three brothers. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. A special thank you to the caregivers at Aster Assisted Living in Cottage Grove and to the special nurses on B6 at UW Hospital. I am home in heaven, dear ones: Oh, so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty in this everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, I am now at peace forever, safely home in heaven at last.
